Savannah 26 Catamaran Standard Specification

Construction of Hulls and Decks
Hand laid up in grp to Woods Designs specified layup with white gelcoat finish. Hull topsides and decks are of sandwich construction using pvc contour foam. Hulls are built using isophthalic resin and a layer of powder bound mat next to gelcoat to minimize risk of osmosis. A combination roving/mat glass material is used on hulls and decks. Ply pads are fitted in way of all deck fittings. The hulls have three buoyancy compartments throughout the hull including a collision bulkhead forward.

Standard Features
AeroRig® 
Can be single handed and is unstayed, thereby reducing set up time and sail chafe. It is stronger than an aluminum mast thru the use of carbon fiber.

Accommodations 
Hulls provide 5' 4" standing head room using a convertable hatch. Dinette will seat 4 to 6 comfortably and convert into a 54" wide by 78" long berth. Three cabins, galley comes equipped with icebox, 2 burner stove, sink and generous preparation space. There is plenty of storage space for sailing and living needs throughout the boat.  

Trailerable 
Our Cat can be pulled with a 6 cylinder vehicle. Hulls are folded into place by one person using a standard trailer winch with set up time less than 45 minutes. 

Forward Lounging Net & Seat 
The net is large enough for the comfort of 2 adults. The seat is molded into the central cabin, allowing full visibility in comfort and safety. 

Steering 
The boat is furnished with tiller steering which provides more precise handling. 

Cockpit 
The cockpit is large and stable enough to allow for the gathering of 4 to 6 adults with plenty of comfortable built in seating areas. 

Head Arrangements

OTHER COMMENTS:
This is only a short review but we hope it is to the point!

We sailed the Savannah 26 Catamaran in the Chesapeake Bay in winds varying from 10 to 20 knots. Alongside, or overrun, were a number of other well known catamarans from 28 to 36 feet overall. The Savannah outran most, stayed with the remainder, and did it smoothly, with almost no slap or slam. In short, she was a joy to sail - as are most Richard Wood's designs.

Savannah's lines are not exactly sleek. But this catamaran is very utilitarian and will remind some of a once very well respected European car import. We think Savannah deserves the same popularity.

As to trailerability, she appears to be the simplest and quickest on and off the trailer, using floatation and rotation rather than complicated mechanical systems.

Gunk hole her. Take her to the islands for a while. As a couple, enjoy her spacious, simple but extremely useful center cabin. And then shock some of those bigger catamarans you'll be sailing by.
