Top Cat was damaged in hurricane George in 1998, and rebuilt with all new electrical and electronic equipment in 1999, 2000 and 2001. A survey was conducted in late 1999 after most repairs were completed. The boat had logged over 10,000 miles before the damage, including multiple trips to the Bahamas and one to the Virgin Islands. The boat has logged several thousand miles since repairs, including covering most of the Bahamas.
The boat is structurally and mechanically sound, with mostly new or almost new equipment. There are numerous blemishes in the finish, primarily on the portside and port deck, reflecting the 1998 storm damage. None of the repaired areas were smoothly faired, leaving some roughness in the surface of the hull, deck and top. The hardtop, which has been extended by 13 inches, and the sliding saloon top are especially irregular. There are also places where two-part polyurethane paint that did not quite match the original gelcoat was used to cover blemished. Some of the woodwork inside the boat was also damaged and repaired, leaving scars from the storm. The price of this boat has been significantly reduced to reflect these deficiencies. The owner would welcome your calls or E-mails to really learn what this cat is about.
