LAYOUT & ACCOMMODATIONS:
JAMES MCDUST is the four cabin version with two heads of the appraised Venezia 42. She is one of the last Venezias built and benefits of the experience of more than 110 Venezia 42's built before. This catamaran has the European A Certification for unlimited voyaging on open seas.COCKPIT: As you step into the cockpit you are in the center of a social area large enough for 15 people in a U-shaped seating area. A drop leaf dining table is situated at the port end of the cockpit. Below the cockpit sole is ample storage. Another large storage locker aft houses the gas bottles and the liferaft. There is space enough for much more equipment. The steering station is bulkhead mounted with navigation and engine gauges. The bimini is stainless steel and can easily be folded down. Sunning cushions are provided for comfortable relaxing areas on either side of the cockpit.
Walk through a sliding acrylic glass door into the
SALOON: with seating for 8 in a large semi-circle shaped settee with storage below and an oval dining table. Sit down and enjoy the view, in a light and airy setting provided by two frontal hatches, a deck hatch and a widely opening door. The 360-degree view from the saloon makes for a most comfortable setting and the sliding acrylic glass door opens into the cockpit, which expands the social area. The 10 Halogen spot lights divided on several switches enable cozy or bright lighting. The JVC stereo system with CD player has two speakers. The saloon cushions have colorful blue and white fabric. The saloon sole is an upgraded synthetic material that requires very little maintenance. The interior wood is satin varnished Mahogany-like wood.
GALLEY: is to starboard with two circular stainless steel sinks, hot/cold pressure water. pressure salt water, dish drain, trash bin, 220 volt outlet, ENO three-burner stove with oven. Frigoboat engine driven refrigerator with top loading 6.8 cu.ft. refrigerator, 3.8 cu.ft. freezer. Overhead opening hatch, and storage on top and in galley block.
Step down four steps on either side of the saloon/galley to the passageways in the hulls (the hulls are mirror-like identical) conducting to the
AFT STATEROOMS: which have transverse double berths (4'9" X 7'2") with bulk storage below berth; shelves & hanging locker inboard, dressing seat outboard, 3 ports, opeing hatch, 2 x reading lights, overhead light. Standing headroom is 6'7". Built-in safe in the port aft stateroom.
FORWARD STATEROOMS: have double berths (4'10" X 7'2") with innerspring baton system under the mattress for really comfortable sleeping, bulk storage below berth; large shelf & storage below the shelf. Hanging locker inboard, dressing seat inboard; 2 X (6" X 13") opening ports, 18" X 18" Lewmar overhead hatch, 2 x reading lights, overhead light, flashlight. Standing headroom is 6'10".
FOREPEAKS: are storage areas with access via a 18" X 18" Lewmar hatch and/or from forward cabin.
HEAD COMPARTMENTS: are midships and inboard with GRP molded vanities, sliding door, hot & cold pressure water, mirror & storage above; Raske/Meyde RM 69 manual toilet; handheld shower w/12VDC sump pump; Lewmar overhead hatch. 6'10" standing headroom, 14" X 19" Goiot escape hatch. Hull and Keel are hand-laid bi-directional glass roving with isopthalic resin and cored with closed cell foam for stiffness, strength and insulation. Keels are low-aspect ratio fin design for lift and enhanced windward performance and are molded separately; port & starboard watertight bulkheads forward & foam filled crash boxes; spade rudders with high load self-aligning bearings.Deck & superstructure is molded in one piec with hand-laid bi-directional glass roving with isopthalic resin and cored with closed cell foam; molded non-skid decks; deck to hull joint is mechanically fastened and bonded.
Overhanging cabin top, which shields the windows from the sun help keep the interior noticeably cooler.
DECK:
Flat non-skid surfaces makes JAMES MCDUST a safe boat to work on. All activities (sail handling, docking, anchoring, engine access, and having fun are done on flat surfaces inside the lifelines. The catwalk to the bowrollers allows for easy anchoring or just standing at the sail to watch the world. Hatches and ports are placed to allow for maximum ventilation and light.

The anchoring system allows JAMES MCDUST to be anchored from the sure-footing of the catwalk with the anchor lead from the front edge where there is no danger of rubbing against the inner side of the hulls. The bridle system with shock absorbers keeps the swinging at anchor to a minimum.
