COMMENTS:
CATOFUN, a St. Frances 44 Sailing Catamaran,  built by St. Frances Marine, South Africa, and launched in October, 1996. Designed by Angelo Lavranos, constructed entirely of “sandwiched foam”, 44 feet long, 24 feet wide, with a 3 foot draft. Very strong, a great world-cruiser, easily sailed by two, fast and extremely comfortable. “Best looking, and best utilization of space of any catamaran built.”

Four cabins all with in-suite bathrooms (the forward baths have “Sitz” bathtubs); a complete galley (down) including a gigantic 12volt freezer; a large library/work and storage area; a huge main saloon with a great, usable, nav-table and a wrap-around genuine leather sofa and  gorgeous wood veneered table which seats 8 comfortably.  And  lots of closets, cupboards and shelves in every room!

Massive cockpit, complete with a clever fold-out table and a full set of cushions, enclosed by a full Bimini. Full width swimstep, steps and folding ladders down both hulls, perfect for swimming and dinghy boarding.

Flat deck and saloon roof; safe for on-deck work when sailing and great for sunbathing, as is the large trampoline! And excellent visibility from the helm under sail or power! Plus, the entire saloon roof built to catch rain water and deliver it thru valves to the tanks.

And storage areas everywhere!  Fore & aft in the hulls, under beds, benches, the lazarette and the big sofa, in the table pedestals, inside & outside! Plus 2 huge sail lockers!

Powered by 2 Yanmar 27hp diesels with sail-drives, she is capable of 9 knots and extremely maneuverable. Great fuel efficiency! And a very large inventory of Yanmar parts & manuals. Plus, tons of spares parts, electrics , connectors, hardware, line, etc!

Sails include fully-battened mainsail with Doyle stack-pack/ lazy-jacks system, roller furled jib, asymmetric spinnaker & a storm jib (hanks onto the inner forestay) all done by Doyle Sails, Capetown.

“CATOFUN” is absolutely beautiful!!! Totally color-coordinated inside and out, including paint, upholstery, carpet, sail covers, canvas, bedspreads, throw pillows, counter-top, and even the dinghy!  Extensive use of wood veneer plus Teak & Holly floors combined with practical textured white ceilings and upper walls is striking, and easy to clean!

“CATOFUN” was built in South Africa and we have lived on her full-time since taking delivery in Capetown,. We have cleaned, maintained, repaired and improved her meticulously! After approximately 30,000+ miles of great level sailing, our absolutely “like new” gem is for sale, extremely complete,  well equipped and ready to go!
