Layout & Accommodations:
The HT 26 is a central cockpit design with a large aft cabin including a king-sized berth (which can be divided into two double berths) and built-in storage. The central cockpit includes the steering station with engine controls and full instrumentation. It is surrounded by double lifelines and can easily seat six people. All control lines, including the main halyard, are lead to the cockpit. The main cabin includes a large galley area in the port hull with standing headroom, double sink, provision for a stove and refrigerator, hot and cold pressurized water, and lots of counter and storage space. Amidships is the dining area with facing settees and a six-foot teak folding table. The dining area converts to a large double berth. In the starboard hull is the enclosed head, with sink, hanging locker, and pressurized water. Also in this hull is the navigation area, with folding nav table and map//book storage. Access to the two engine rooms is provided in each hull, both from the main cabin and from the aft cabin. The HT 26 has a solid foredeck with additional storage for anchors, rode, and the propane tanks. This area provides solid footing while anchoring and a great place for sunning and lounging. The foredeck also can accommodate the solid dingy (included) or an inflatable. The interior includes ample window areas at eye level. In addition, an opening port is situated in the galley area and a full-sized opening hatch with screen cover is over the dining area. Additional ventilation is provided by four solar vents and three folding fans.

Electronics & Navigation:
"Annie" is equipped with full running and navigation lights; a portable spotlight; Horizon 25-watt VHF radio; Datamarine wind, speed, and depth gauges; Navico wheel autopilot.

Mechanical & Electrical:
Electrical: Kyocera 45-watt solar panel; two deep-cycle marine batteries; two 500 gph bilge pumps and float switches; four solar-powered vents; three Guest folding fans; 30-amp/115-watt shore-power outlet with 15-foot cable; two DC and one AC electrical panel; six DC incandescent lights; two AC incandescent lights; two fluorescent lights (DC); a 9-inch GE AC/DC ceiling-mounted color television w remote control; Panasonic full-size microwave (shore-power required).

Mechanical: Two Yanmar 1GM 9-hp diesel engines (port and starboard) fitted with Vetus folding props. Pressurized water. Hot and cold water with propane-fired Wolter heater (disconnected). Propane lines to galley and head with automatic shut-off solenoid switch and two 10-lb. propane tanks.

Deck & Hulls:
Fiberglass (white) over end-grain balsa coring. Short fixed keels or skegs protect props and allow the boat to rest on the bottom. Relatively narrow beam (13' 9") permits the use of standard 30-35' marina slips. Solid foredeck provides large lounging/sunning area and good footing. Center cockpit seats six to eight people. Ample storage is provided both in the cockpit and the foredeck.

Sails & Rig:
Large fully-battened mainsail with lazy jacks. Large 150-percent roller furling genoa. Rigged for additional spinnaker. All control lines, including main halyard, lead to cockpit. Gibb main halyard winch with built-in handle. Gibb sheet winches with built-in handles. Gibb roller-furling mechanism. Two eight-inch cleats and four chocks forward; two eight-inch cleats aft; adjustable genoa tracks with adjustable spring cleats.

Other:
Full-coverage bimini over central cockpit with collapsible stainless-steel frame. Dodger. Seven-foot cathedral-bottomed fiberglass dingy (can be stowed on foredeck). Six Type II PFDs; one Type IV horseshoe PFD; two throw-able flotation cushions; Life-sling MOB retrieval system. Fitted vinyl-covered cockpit cushions. USCG-required signaling equipment. Two fire extinguishers. Factory manual and parts list for Yanmar diesels and some spare parts. Four 25-foot and two 35-foot dock lines. Two anchors: Delta (25 lbs) with 150-foot rode and 16-foot chain; Danforth Hi-tensile (22 lbs.) with 175-foot rode and 16-foot chain.

Owner’s Comments:
The HT 26 is a true blue-water cruiser and one of the smallest cruising catamarans to have successfully circumnavigated. However, the HT 26 also is equally adept at coastal sailing and gunk-holing. Her modest size translates into less maintenance and the ability to use standard (30-35 foot) marina slips, as well as easy handling when sailing short-handed or single-handed. Despite her modest size, the HT provides ample accommodations and storage for a cruising couple or family and even works well as a live-aboard. With low windage, excellent visibility, a conservative rig, and a secure central cockpit the HT 26 is supremely stable and capable of handling all manner of seas and weather. With relatively low freeboard and cabin height, the HT, to my eye, also is far prettier boat than some "floating hotel" catamarans. Click here to read more by this owner about ANNIE and the model.
