Why A Six? The ability to slot an engine as low down as possible in the vee of the boat has been critical.
The straight six has thus become the configuration of choice, as the crankshaft is still not so long as to require heavy strengthening, there is more capacity advantage over a four, and a six is far narrower than a V-eight.

Yanmar's 6LY series has a formidable lineup of engines that have already achieved victory in international powerboat races. The high power- to- weight ratio, the low slung configuration, the virtually square end profile of 708 x 708mm (28 x 28 in) for maximum compactness, and the intercooler turbo are all here.
The mountability is excellent due to its flat top narrow profile.

• This engine has muscle and endurance with the following features:
  Race proven performance making a fast boat faster. Power-to-weight ratio is even more startling. Endurance and fuel economy are at a level that only a diesel could achieve.

• It follows current user trends, the demand for more power and more speed. And because it is a diesel, the standard fuel tanks can produce extended range.

• Direct injection using ultra-high pressure fine mist injectors makes for excellent economy together with superb performance, yet there are savings, precious energy savings, and an increase in safety that accompanies a diesel.

DESIGNERS:
Over recent years, the largest area of growth in the design office has been in the area of power catamarans. In the past 4 years, over 60 power cats designed by Alan Wright and Angelo Lavranos have been sold between 33ft (10 metres) and 65ft (20 metres). The design team has a vast amount of experience in a wide range of marine vessels and over the last decade this design expertise has been used increasingly in the development of power and sailing catamarans.

Well recognised internationally, Alan Wright and Angelo Lavranos have over 4,000 vessels in the water, ranging from 20ft trailer yachts to 140ft super yachts. Many of the vessels produced by these highly experienced designers have gained high profile recognition, having held records in prominent world championship events

ERGONOMICS:
Quantum Power Catamarans provide good rough water performance with notable economy at high speeds, with layout plans optimized for fishing or cruising - American style! Interior design and detail is superb with design emphasis based on taller (6' 3") ergonomics. We have gone the extra mile by radiusing wooden furnishings including door corners and jambs, cabinets and tabletops... even the main electrical switch panels. Our wooden Teak furnishings are all meticulously handcrafted by highly skilled cabinetmakers. Quantum Power Catamarans have 3 luxurious standard color schemes that rival "customized" interiors. There are several cabin layout options to choose from that stretches bed space to the max! If money is not an object, we can accommodate specialized interior layouts as additional extras.

COMMENTS:
This display catamaran was shipped to the United States to take part in the 2002 Seattle and Miami boat shows. This fine example has twin 440 horsepower Yanmar diesel engines, and other notable features like Fischer Panda 8KVA Genset, CruiseAir air-conditioning, Sealand Vacu-flush toilets, and full Raetheon electronics package. The galley has plenty of bench space, sink, fridge, convection microwave oven, and all the cupboard space you need for all the necessary kitchenware. She has generated a lot of positive comment, most specially about the quality of it's interior, and the "Oyster" color scheme.
