Engine compartment lined with Soundown 1" lead/foam insulation to minimize engine noise.
The high-torque Yanmar 230hp 4LHA-STZE diesel is fresh-water-cooled and turbocharged; its Mercury Bravo Three Outdrive Unit has dual counter-rotating 26" props, selected for long-range cruising economy rather than speed "out of the hole". The engine had fewer than 50 hours at December 2001; it produces a top speed of over 45 mph and cruising speeds of about 40mph - lots faster than BRILLIANT's sailor-owner needs.  (The builder's COST for the Yanmar 4LHA-STZE alone was $18,455!)

DECK & HULLS:

Twin catamaran hulls are planing type; a third, wave-softening center
nacelle begins small about 4' aft of the bow and gradually grows toward stern, to accommodate outdrive.
Top-rated 17# Bulwagga anchor; 5' chain; 150' 5/16" nylon rode.
3x8" dia. fenders stow in SS holder forward.
Extra 6" spring line cleat each side.
Water ski towing line hook.
Swim platform aft with fold-away 3-step swimming ladder and pressure shower.
Flagstaffs fore and aft.
Optional high SS bow rail.
Hulls are white with dark blue stripe; upholstry is white with blue accent striping.
