Boat History
Ragamuffin is a strong cruising Catamaran, designed by Derek Kelsall for Mr. Austin Healey and was built in England 1985 at Bayside Marine in accordance to the Lloyds standards. She has proved her seaworthiness with three Atlantic crossings. The last crossing was with the ARC Race 1998, where she made 1" place in the multihull category.

Ragamuffin was completely renovated in 1998 and 1999, such as:
• Interior painting and upholstery
• Exterior painting (hulls, deck and cockpit) with 3 coats of Allgrip
• New anti-slip and tread-master
• Anti-fouling - 2 coats of Trinidad
• Partly new rigging in the form of 2 new back stays and a new forestay

Owner Comments
The exceptional and reliable construction fulfills the many different requirements and expectations of a catamaran:

• Kellsall's design with the middle rudder and adjustable keel system with four daggerboards makes it possible to sail and anchor in extreme shallow waters up to the beach.

• The length-beam proportion, 2:1, and the unsinkable construction make cruising very safe and comfortable.

• The trimming facilities like the rotating mast and the adjustable dagger-boards, as well as the slim hulls and the very low capped bridge-deck, makes her very fast (more then 200 Miles in 24 hours fully loaded on the ARC), but limits standing headroom in the salon.

• Ragamuffin is easily handled with two persons. With a deck space of 550 sq. ft., a huge cockpit and spacious layout there is plenty of comfort even with a crew of eight.

• The interior is modern, light and practical.

2Hulls Comments
RAGAMUFFIN is a very good example of a Kelsall Tango fast cruiser catamaran class and is looking very good after the owners' just performed refit to include painting. We might also point out that she would make a great commercial day cat, non-USCG certified boat, for use in other than US waters.
